Housing Law Research Guide: Secondary Sources

Introduction

The following are a sample of resources to get you started in researching secondary source material in this field. Materials will be added as needed.

Journals, Law Review and Journal articles

  • Housing Law Bulletin, (2000-present). Information and analysis of federal legislation, regulations, program developments and significant recent cases.
  • Journal of Housing Research. Peer-reviewed articles on theoretical and empirical research on housing and residential mortgage finance. Topics include the economics of housing markets, home mortgage finance, international housing finance, and housing policy.
  • National Housing Law Project Bulletin

The only publication of its kind, the Bulletin keeps readers informed on important developments in housing policy and law.
Articles: Include reports and analysis of federal legislation, regulations, program developments, and significant recent cases as well as strategies for legal services and advocates on tenants and housing rights issues. Summaries: Include federal and state housing cases, regulations, published and unpublished notices.

  • Journal of Affordable Housing & Community Development Law

The Journal of Affordable Housing and Community Development Law serves as a clearinghouse of information on programs related to affordable housing and community development law and provides training programs for lawyers and concerned laypersons.

  • Shelterforce

Shelterforce is the nation’s oldest continually published community development magazine. Since 1975, Shelterforce has been a primary forum for organizers, activists, advocates, and policymakers in the affordable-housing, equitable economic development, neighborhood revitalization, and community organizing movements. Published by: The National Housing Institute
